South Carolina

Harry and I just returned from vacation in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. So beautiful ~ all the trees have Spanish moss hanging down, and the birds and the sunsets are amazing!

SNOW!

It has snowed all day! (since 5 this morning) We had school all day, but Hadley's school closed at 2. That means she got to spend half a day with me at "big kid school" She LOVED it! Its amazing how interesting opening and closing desk drawers are... We got home and had a little snow time. She is a big fan of the snow! We already have a delay tomorrow, hopefully they'll cancel it and we can play all day! The weather man said this storm will drop 7-11 inches! Unbelievable!

What a week! A beautiful snow storm, a bobcat on our driveway, and a mountain lion kill on our neighbor's driveway (a deer). Plus, the foxes are doing their mating screams. Hope that means an early spring!

I got a note from Chris yesterday with this picture on their 62nd anniversary. She said:

I am doing better last couple days, not as nauseated. Hard to eat when you don't feel hungry. Trying to. Suppose will have shoulder surgery, replacement, in next month or so. Then chemo, hoping every 3 months. Then the other knee. First did real good. Tell all hello.

Grace 17:20

I went to the most wonderful restraunt last night! I'm in Norcross (suburb of Atlanta). By accident, we found Grace 17:20.

It was the most wonderful place ---- is Southern French a real thing?

So, I started out with a cup of Black Eyed Pea Soup with a base of Bread Crumbs and Carmalized Onions. OMG!

Between the soup and dinner, we had a Carrot & Ginger Sous Shooter topped truffle oil. It was a warm soup in a shot glass. Strangest thing ever --- but yummy!!

For dinner I had Shrimp atop Garlic & Onion Grits. Suddenly, grits are one of my favs!

I am in search now for recipes to make these savory bites at home!!!

Baylee's Birthday Slumber Party

Medical update:

Christine went home from the hospital yesterday but is very tired and weak. Just stayed in bed today, which is very unlike her.

Laverne is back at Pat's and is battling all the same symptoms Daddy had with his congestive heart failure.

Mom is still vomiting, and the doctor has begun a battery of tests to figure out if it is the flu or something else.

She is still in hospital. Very weak, very tired.

I received this email from Starlynn on Friday afternoon:

Just wanted to give you an update on mom. She was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. Was very sick and weak - not eating hardly at all and not drinking enough. She was dehydrated so she is on a drip for that and also a drip with an antibiotic. She is doing better- talked to her this morning- has started to eat a little. She was pretty sick the whole time we were there at Christmas. I had to bring her to the emergency room because of dehydration the Monday after Christmas. Then she had her chemo treatment last Wed. and that makes her really nauseous. Keep her in your prayer Love & Blessings- P.S. She does have her cell phone and you can also call the room direct at 225-387-7317.

I will let you know when I hear more. Also, Aunt LaVerne has been in the hospital for congestive heart failure and was to be released to hospice. Have not heard in a few days.

Tim sent us a new picture of Logan on Friday. She looks great and so tall!

Miles went back to Lexington this week. I think he had had enough of my "encouragement". He got a car --- it's all registered, inspected, and insured! It's not his dream car, but it got him to where he wanted to go! Considering that he antagonized me all the time ---- I kind of miss him. (don't tell him that!)
